Songs That Never Were
« on: November 16, 2009, 04:26:38 AM »
We all have our favourite TV songs that have never been released/recorded... how about ones that never even got written?

From my 1978 diary, trying to make sense of all the new songs included in the Adverts live set that summer... "Men Of Salt."

Of course, it was "Male Assault."  OR WAS IT?

Any other mis-hearings that are actually damned good titles?

Men of Salt. ;D ;D

I used to think that Sparks Get in the Swing was called Guilty in the Sea when I first heard it in Scene and Heard in Leeds. ;D

I'll have a think about some TV Songs I got wrong. I know that some certainly confused me at first. Here's a photo of Tj Smit in Ipswich when we first heard Ghost of Westminster...

Guilty in the Sea

Hmmm, Men Of Salt, Guilty In The Sea... am i detecting a nautical flavouring to our lousy hearing?  NO matter, I'm off to listen to "The Day We Salt The Big Fish," all about those heroic herring farmers. And, of course, "Sea Europe."

TV played one of his old demos at the gig in S. Gmuend.
At first I thought he sings "Divided fool" or something...  :-[
When I asked him later, I understood the title as "Divided Rule". Looking at the songlist in the Forum here (thanks Tj), I saw it's really "Divide and rule".
Just around the corner and miles away...
