When originally conceived this section of the TV Smith forum was going to be about discussing the meaning of the lyrics of the Great Songsmith.
At the time it was mentioned by a fellow fan that the lyrics to TV's songs were obvious so there was no need to discuss them. ...Never had my flabber been so gasted. Anyway I listened to the customer and Klaus and I changed the theme to TV Songs.
For me many of TV's songs (particularly The Explorers and 80's Demo's) have many potential meanings. For instance it took me almost 30 years to work out just who was The Unwelcome Guest.
Here's what TV had to say in TV Times 9 about the meaning of his lyrics...Dave Thompson: Do you think people listen deeply to your songs and what you say in them?
TV Smith: "It's completely up to them. I can prepare the meal, but I can't make them eat it."
Personally I prepare my food fresh and eaten.
