Leeds sounded like a cracker - a few words from Kim:

"I know I am biased, but the boys in black were on form. No Jet sadly, but they kicked arse and seemed very jolly. Baz gave a highly entertaining nod to a fan who was there last year and then suffered a heart attack and couldn't remember the gig. His wife had written into The Stranglers website, and according to Baz, the guy missed Jet Black bare arsed riding a baby elephant across the stage!

A few adjustments to the set. No North Winds, and you will be relieved to hear no Tramp, we did get Walk on By though which is a personal favourite."

I actually love Tramp - I just prefer it when the guitarist is playing the same song as the rest of the band!

Yes. And spends a lot of time in Brighton too.

Although, to be fair, The Stranglers had a bash at 'swing' a couple of times before he even joined.

All fair points, but he was then, and still remains, a knob!

(Uli - did you mean terrible musician? I do hope so!)

I liked the Stranglers even with Paul Roberts, especially "About Time" and "Norfolk Coast" (and saw them live with the tours for those albums)... But somehow I wasn't sad when he left.

April is closer now, looking forward.  8)

I liked the music too, but not his annoying stage antics and the way he used to fanny around when "singing" the old classics.

What a knob!

Kim reports two drum kits at Manchester tonight - I guess Jet will be on the DVD.

Stranglers fans recently voted for their Top 40 tracks:

http://www.thestranglers.net/?p=9933#more-9933

Wonder where they got that idea from?

Seriously, I think it's rather sad/very telling that all but two of the songs are from Hugh's days with them, and most of them are early songs at that.

We've done this "fan chart" for Teev several times and Tim's fans seem to follow his career far more rather than just cling to his Adverts and Explorers days.

A few words from kiminblack about Manchester last night:

"It was fabulous. 9 below did a song for Wilko again to big applause.

It was rammed full and very hot. I had to get out at one point to cool down before I keeled over! I caught the encore from the back where there was actually air!

Jet did 3 songs including genetics.

Cant wait for July now..."

Fully agree with Kiminblack, The Stranglers last night were Awesome in Manchester (sold out gig), the best I`ve ever seen them. My wife has seen them 3 times now and is not a massive fan (she just comes with me to make a weekend of it) and even she said she thought they were brilliant last night.

Agreed. 50% of my current Stranglers favourites would be post-Hugh.
