I knew you`d enjoy it Uli !  Jet was not on the drums at the Manchester gig we went to either, he had been taken ill with breathing problems at the soundcheck at Oxford a few days before. The replacement drummer is jet`s full time drum tec and I think he is called Ian Barnard, only in his early 20`s but he did a good job in Manchester too. He has had to stand in quite a few times in recent years.

Nice video feat. 3 songs (soundwise the bass is not half as loud as it was at the gig):

Yeah, I knew about that, so I wasn't too shocked about Jet not being there. Of course his drum tec should know what Jet does.  ;)

JJ looking back at the summer gigs:

.. It's gratifying that we are still in such demand and I think it is a direct reflection of the work that we have put into the last few albums. It's also confirmation that somewhere there's a little place in everyone's heart for The Stranglers!
After the summer dates are over, I want to start writing as I've got lots of things that I want to explore.

Stranglers tour dates in the paper today and I noticed The Godfathers are supporting. The Stranglers play Edinburgh on the same night 999 are at the Citrus club around the corner-might be a good idea if promoters kept their eyes open! I was tempted to get a ticket for the Stranglers just to see The Godfathers then leave and go to see 999. Then I saw that tickets are £26 plus add ons so I won't bother.

A few words on The Stranglers gig in Lincoln last night from Kim:

"Jet was absent. Baz said he was in Lincoln but not up to it. 9 below zero were really good. The menninblack i thought took a little while to get going and were then really on it.

Odd set list but pretty interesting.

Am now battered and bruised and knackered. It was worth it tho!

Fan forum said jet looked ill in Liverpool Monday night. Dave was on fire! The baby drummer is good I think tho they do take the mick out of him. I wonder if they will save jet for Manchester last gig which is being filmed. Assuming he is well enough to do it. 75 is a fair age to be gigging!"

I'm off to the Nottingham gig next Monday, so I'll report back then.

I'm going to Hammersmith on Saturday. Taking Xa to try to convince her that they're still a great band. She's one of those who lost interest when Hugh left.

However that's just 'cause she fancied him and that's no way to decide a band's musical merits is it?  ;D

Oh I don't know, Hugh is a bit of a dish...

...and also the only musician I've ever had a quick chat about biochemistry with!
