Further to The Stranglers being added as 'Special Guests' on Simole Mind's tour they've collaborated on a new version of The Stranglers' '(Get A) Grip (On Yourself).

To be available as a download or a limited edition 7".

Oh no!

Nooooooooooo!

There is no god!

If Jim (wan)Kerr is going to "sing" a classic, at least learn the words and put some effort in.

I may have to file for divorce from The Stranglers.

Awful, just awful.

No one with any knowledge/love of music should EVER work with anyone responsible for this abomination:

A quick catch up with JJB

We’re getting offers from all over the world. I thought that this year was going to be quiet so I could concentrate on writing but it didn’t turn out that way! When the offers are there and they’re interesting, and we’re selling tickets, it’s an absolute joy to go to places where people want to see us.

With all this time spent touring have you had any opportunity to work on new material with Baz?

Yes, that’s what we’ve been doing for the last five days (NB Baz and JJ had just spent some time together). All the time we’re collecting ideas, it might be just a riff, a lyrical line or something. We’ve got a few fully arranged pieces which we’re going to start rehearsing at soundchecks in Europe I think. We’ve got four or five other ideas that we need to fully develop. It’s a good start.

Is there a chance of any of the new tracks getting a live airing in March?

I think that new material might be premiered in March, before we record it, that’s the plan…

I expected the black & white tour to be fairly epic and at Rock City on Monday night it was. Very weird to see the album I listened to it all those years ago over and over again played live now and sounding so spot on,  then straight into a real mix of some of the rest of their stuff starting with Grip. On the night In the shadows was standout for me as was relentless. the banging of the bass prior to NMH  intro shook the place to its foundations talk about feel it live! Oh and the Alarm were enjoyable too and seemed to really enjoy themselves,  respect to Mike Peters for getting out there and doing something about the disease he is suffering from

Gary Crowleys Punk & New Wave Show on Soho Radio today at 4pm is a Stranglers special...
This is the link for when the show goes out live.
http://www.sohoradiolondon.com/player/
It will later be uploaded to Mixcloud as usual.

Gary's post on Facebook:
''We're back @ 4pm on Soho Radio today with the latest blast of ”GC's Punk & New Wave Show”.
And it's a Stranglers Special today. Eugene at Vive Le Rock magazine was telling me over coffee yesterday just how good the band were on Friday night at the Brixton Academy. I last saw them in concert myself at the Roundhouse a few years back and the place went absolutely ballistic.
So we're asking YOU today for your favourite Stranglers song, album and memory.
Song? For me today, it has to be the punky, infectious drive of their debut single "(Get A) Grip (On Yourself)" and memories of those early Top Of The Pops performances. And album? Today i'm going with their 3rd album ‘Black And White’, which saw them in 1978 continue to push their aggressive and distinctive sound even further.
But what about you? Which ones are your favourites and why?
Leave your comments below and me and Jim will read them out on air when we go 'live' at 4pm @''
