Around the time I want to leave for Augsburg, I begin to feel really tired... just like the last few times I wanted to drive to Augsburg and then didn't - this time though my will is stronger, especially as I'd promised both Gerhard (promoter) and Duncan (man in purple suit) to be there.

Before it all begins, I take a walk through the town centre (still very nice) and I think "next time I'll come early and spend the afternoon". After shortly walking up the wrong street, I find the "Haifischbar" and am welcomed by a nice lady who's obviously only just set up the "entrance", I gladly give her my tenner and enter the bar... nice place, nice deco. Duncan & band are in the room at the back and soundchecking (yeah I'm early), I say hello to Gerhard (aka "the General" from Generation N). Band is loud, so I tell Gerhard they won't need the (small) PA in this small room at all, to which he kindly disagrees.

The band then have their meal (food looking good, maybe I'll return to this place to eat one day), while I go outside with Gerhard and chat a bit about this & that. Later inside, he buys me a drink, which is really nice of him! To our surprise, Daniel arrives (who I'd first met at the festival at the "Gaswerk" back in 2013, then later again at a Garden Gang gig), his journey was about as long as mine (Munich gig would be closer for him, but he has to work this Saturday)! Meanwhile, the bar has filled quite nicely (apparently there's someone who flew in from UK for the weekend to catch 2 shows).
Gerhard then plays his solo support set. His guitar playing is like a mix between Johnny Ramone & Angus Young (or something along these lines), the songs lean very much on Ramones' riffs - except one which is lifted from Stiff Little Fingers (as Gerhard openly admits on stage)!
Duncan Reid & the Big Heads finally hit the stage and rock the place with the songs from 3 Duncan albums (including "Can't stop", "Montevideo", "C'mon Josephine", "Rolling on", "C'est la vie", "Kelly's gone insane" etc.) and some Boys classics ("TCP" with its reference to "Joey, Johnny, Tommy, Dee Dee" is one of many highlights, as is "First time" of course). The small room is crammed, I stand near a chair at the back with hardly any room to move at times! But it's a great fun gig with singalong tunes and a punkrockin' band. They play the song "77" and I think it's probably been similar back then!
After the first encore, people still want more, they kinda run out of songs they rehearsed, but they hammer out a few more Boys songs ("Sick on you" and others) and a great cover of "Blitzkrieg Bop"!
Like all gigs, even with many encores, it has to end at some point in time, both band & audience seem very happy about this one!

Great band, nice people, a very good night.
I took a few pics, hope the link works and you can view this one:
