Slaughter & the Dogs play Stuttgart next Friday. While I heard bad things about a recent gig in Freiburg (too short at only 1 hour incl. encore), I'm thinking about going... anyone here seen them recently?

Rumour just heard: Sex Pistols playing club shows next month! Plus world tour to follow...  :-\

Yes...

You know I never write about the gigs I've seen...   ;)

After Slaughter & the dogs it's hopefully Alejandro Escovedo on Sunday (I don't know all that much about him) with Don Antonio as support (who's from Sacri Cuori, one of the best bands ever).

They will also be touring the UK afterwards, so you can't complain:

You wait months for a gig, then three come along at once...

Slaughter & the dogs tonight. (Die Nerven play in Reutlingen tonight, but I saw them in August, so...)
"Doctorella" and "Family 5" play tomorrow (first feat. my mates the twins, who announced it at short notice)
Don Antonio and A. Escovedo on Sunday.

I'd already wondered what I'd do on Saturday, good thing that's cleared now.  ;D

I'll be joining Kim (Grumpyinblack) to see the fantastic Ruts DC supporting (propping up?) The Strugglers on Monday. Hope they are better than their last insipid performance. Even when Hugh was with them I went to every tour, but they were always rather hit-and-miss - I'll report back...

I'll report back...

Yes, please! I'm interested to read how this one goes. I'd love to see Ruts DC (their current single is a great great song). The Strugglers will please you by playing their complete "Written In Red" album?  ;D

Kim caught the first night of the tour in Lincoln:

Mini-report from that night:

Ruts DC were great. I missed the beginning and would definitely want to see them again. Stranglers excellent. Real mixed bag of tunes all fab. Dave's keyboards sounded epic best for years live I think. Genetix. Bear cage few unusual ones.

Ah Fred so bitter! Hugh chose to go, get over it. The menninblack kick arse and always will (although those weird PR years took a bit of dealing with). Happy to go along any time they play cos you never know when they wont again. See you Monday! Remember Babylon is Burning......

Fred's comment was that they were always a bit hit and miss, even in the Hugh years...

Saw Danny Baker at Margate 2 weeks ago, superb stuff and chatted afterwards while books were being signed.

Good luck in T'cup on Sunday..

"Well it's all Fred's fault", I think to myself as I'm waiting for the support band to finally start their show... even if I won't like Slaughter & The Dogs later, I can blame it all on Fred, who told me to go.  :P
The Razorblades aren't bad at all, surf punk, mostly instrumentals - only a few with words, I do remember all the words from one of them which were "amazing, awesome, wow" (they learned these in America, of course). They get to play maybe a tad too long, one of their last few has a long, drawn-out guitar solo in it (yawn)...
Slaughter & The Dogs put on a good show, the rhythm section is rock solid, guitar & vocals very good too (and I can hear most of it clearly), they seem really into it! The setlist is probably very similar to the one Mansunkid posted in his blog (however Stuttgart gets one more encore!), including the cool covers (Waiting for the man, Get It On) and the "hits" (Where have all the boot boys gone & Cranked up really high). Good gig, thanx Fred!  8)

VERY happy to take the blame for that Uli.

Yeah Kim - they were/are ALWAYS rather hit and miss - whatever the line up. Shall we continue this 'academic discussion' in Formans on Monday?
