Most people have pissed off by the last slot on a Sunday anyway!

Have they? I find it's usually a busy night both in the venue and at the aftershows.

i must say, apart from TV, I'm not enthused. It needs something spectacular. Rancid ain't it.

It always gets much quieter by Sunday mid-afternoon, probably because so many people have work on a Monday morning. The busy aftershows are for people who don't want to admit they have work on Monday morning!

No but D.O.A. are. As for Rancid- 2 great albums a lomg time ago and a lot of poor ones. Let The Dominoes Fall was rubbish. I saw them a couple of times after Out Come The Wolves came out and was disappointed.

ACTUALLY I MUST SAY THERE SEEMS TO BE ABIT OF A SLUR ON MY CHARACTER AS REGARDS THIS DRINKING LARK ... ??? WELL I MUST SAY I HAVE NOW SEEN THE ERROR OF MY WAYS & HAVE TAKEN UP A VIGOROUS FITNESS REGIME  :'( I NOW WALK TO THE PUB  ;D )

..... ON A SERIOUS NOTE I LOVE CHANGE I THINK THERE'S ROOM FOR ALL SORTS AT THIS FESTIVAL I'D LIKE TO SEE A RETURN OF THE PLAGUE & THE MACHINES I'D LIKE TO SEE A DEBUT BY AVONDALE 45, CLAYTOWN TROUPE & A GREAT NEW BAND CALLED FUCKBOX FEATURING LEE FROM THE PLAY THINGS LEECH WOMAN ETC & A CHAP WHOSE NAME ESCAPES ME THAT USED TO DO PORN.

I'D ALSO LIKE TO SEE A RETURN OF SLADE ,NOT TO MENTION CHRIS TT IN THE ACOUSTIC . ;D HAWKWIND WOW THAT'D BE A RESULT . I LOVE THE PORK DUKES BUT AT THE SAME TIME CHUMBAWAMBA THE LIST IS BLOODY ENDLESS . I'VE VARIED MUSIC TASTES LAST NIGHT I WAS LISTENING TO PRINCE FAR 1 THAT WAS SHORTLY FOLLOWED BY BRUTAL ATTACK THEN JETHRO TULL ( MY GUILTY PLEASURE WE ALL HAVE ONE  ;D ) I GET BORED VERY QUICKLY I LIKE ABIT OF OI BUT VERY FEW OF THE BANDS AROUND NOW ARE GOOD AT IT & MOST SOUND LIKE A TRIBUTE BAND TO EACH OTHER . REBELLION WOULDN'T BE REBELLION WITHOUT 999 . I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A MIX OF THE NEW & THE OLD . & LETS FACE IT IF A BANDS PLAYING YOU DON'T LIKE GO INTO ANOTHER HALL. :D

I never did get around to writing my review of this year's Blackpool - probably because I was still hung over and I blame STEVE THE FISH!

Why?

Well, when me and Alan got there on the Thursday afternoon we went along to the almost acoustic to see Jesse Eastfield and Paul Carter, etc. only to be greeted by Steve and Melissa who were sat at one of those little alcove tables with a couple of friends who had come down from Inverness called Gareth and Jane. They didn't know them, they were just sharing the table, so we introduced ourselves got chatting and had a few drinks.

And then GJ arrived - time for another round.

And then Steve's other mates arrived - time for another few rounds...

And then Peter arrived. Hurrah! Time for another round...

At this point Alan and I went to get yet another round in and I went back to check the order as by this time there were 11 of us sat around the table. I checked the order and went up to the bar, slapped Alan on the back and repeated the order to him. Having heard this information, Alan turned round looking rather surprised at exactly the same moment as the "Alan" I had slapped on the back who was standing next to him at the bar. Now these "Alans" could have been separated at birth with a few minor exceptions.

Alan is far taller than "Alan".

Alan is thinner than "Alan".

Alan is clean shaven whilst "Alan" had a whispy beard.

Alan had jeans and a light t-shirt on, "Alan" was dressed in black.

Now this was a mistake that anyone could make following several (many) drinks with STEVE THE DRINKS-LIKE-A-FISH and I blame him!

Some pictures from this particular meeting although "Alan" with a beard is now lost in the midst of time...

Thanks for the memories Alan - I think!

Alan and I are gentle souls, muso's who, ahem, prefer taking in the music to the drink.

When Nick and I do get around to writing "The Observer's Book of Punk Bands" I'm sure that Alan and I shall be the first to tick them all off!

By the way, are we having a "quick-draw" contest in that photo Peter? Looks like we're both going for our shoulder holsters!

Either that or it's the fastest 'Scissors, Paper, Rock' competition in history!  ;)
