I met him a couple of times, just to say 'hello', at the Great North Run. Strange man, but I think he did a lot of good with his charity work - & when I was a kid I loved Jim'll Fix It!

Did you ever hear the story about TV Smith and Jimmy Saville?

....I kid you not.

In fact it's a double headed story.

Guess it won't be a trilogy.

Looks like they're now going to spend a load of time and money investigating Ted Heath.

Just a quick thought - I know that people may want closure/compensation, etc., but shouldn't stopping living abusers take priority?

The accusations say that Heath and Savile took young boys on Heath's yacht in Jersey and may even have killed them.
Some of the accusations have been floating around since at least 2008 on the internet but the BBC didn't mention it until last week.
An 'honorary' police officer on Jersey at the time, Roger Holland, has already been convicted.
He was made an 'honary' police man AFTER having been previously convicted for assaulting a child.
Sir Phillip Bailhache, the Bailif on Jersey at the time, made him an 'honary' Constable but claimed he had no knowledge of the previous offence at the time despite him being in charge of the Jersey judiciary and police and having full access to criminal records there.
Holland worked at Haut de la Garenne children's home and supplied children to rich yachtsmen.
Edward Heath and Savile are known to have visited the children's home on a number of occasions.
Savile tried to sue The Sun newspaper when they printed these facts and claimed he'd never been there but later retracted when it was proved he had.
Initial reports suggested that human remains and other evidence of torture and/or murder had been found. These reports were later denied by the Jersey police.
An American reporter, Leah McGrath Goodman, who tried to investigate the story in 2011 was arrested and had material evidence confiscated. She was banned from the UK. on the request of the Jersey police. She recently had the ban lifted and will be giving evidence in the government enquiry into the known cover-up.
Sir Phillip Bailhache refused calls for him to resign and was elected Senator in the States of Jersey in October 2011. On 7 March 2012, the States appointed Bailhache as chairman of Jersey's Electoral Commission.

Sorry. Edited your post instead of quoting. Undone it now.

But, yes, should be in 'World Chat'.

Yes. I did consider that. But he didn't abuse the world. Just large chunks of it.  ;)
