Girls Aloud the end of manurfactured CRAP ?
« on: February 19, 2003, 06:41:49 PM »
i see the girl band tour has been called off is it finally the beginning of the end for this manurfactured shit ? when the size of your tits of the teeth in your mouth is more important than the words that come out of it? get a funky hairstyle, sing someone elses song infront of four music biz puppets, and hey presto a star is born.enough is enough, bring back real musicians where years of practice and hard work devolope the skill to write good decent honest music. FUCK THE BOY/GIRL BANDS LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL.  rock and roll is ruined.
ts not the end but,the BEGINNING.

I totaly agree there.Manufactured crap (pop) is...erm...well....crap i guess.  Nothing personal but the guys who make the bands and produce the shows should jump out the office window and rid us off thier dribble!

TV keeps it real (dude)!

Ps.
Cool site abused and confused.  interesting story.  i (try to) drum.

Just went on the Tom Robinson web site and there is a section for advice to new performers, some of the manufactured bands would do well to read it.
See the below advice from Tom, only one small paragraph, but for me it seems to sum up the appeal of TV.

"Anything you do, do big. Don't be feeble or apologetic. Take possession of your performing area, own it, fill the space. Who the hell wants to watch something half-hearted ? The world is not waiting for another sensitive songwriter to perch on a stool, pick lifelessly at an acoustic guitar and warble inaudible platitudes about man's inhumanity to man. The essence of great performance is energy, passion and total commitment, whether you're Suzanne Vega or Henry Rollins. You don't have to be note perfect, or even massively talented, to pull it off. But whatever you do, it does need to be very, very real."

No wonder Tom was such an inspiration to TV when TV started out solo again the early 90's. :D

Great post Co79 :D

What is Tom's site saying about Not In My Name :?:

Well theirs are songs about heartache
Theirs are songs about love
Theirs are songs about sex sung by an eight year old
And theirs no-one making statements, bar TV
Cos rebeliion don't pay
And they'd rather that you bought this
Cos it's safer that way
Well I can't believe that everyone is happy
With the newest teenage sensation carbon copy

I was talking to captaindfs yesterday, he's bought Guitar and Drum and doesn't rate it, saying it's very ordinary.  He's going to put it on Ebay, should I make him an offer first?
