I DELETE ( LP2014 )
« on: May 12, 2013, 11:50:58 AM »
Thought I' d start a new post as a few people have mentioned this.

From what I overheard at the merch stand TV is trying out the songs for his next album live, rather than in the recording studio at the moment.

Does anyone have a full list of all the new songs?

Be good to pick up some of the ones that slipped away too like Fix It and Wake Up.

From what I overheard at the merch stand TV is trying out the songs for his next album live, rather than in the recording studio at the moment.

Isn't this what he's always done? I remember brandnew songs turning up in setlists only shortly after albums or even before an album's release (like e.g. "Weak Glue" being performed live in 2005, shortly prior to the release of MO, while "Weak Glue" itself had to wait until 2008 for a studio release!).  8)
Anyway, it will be exciting to hear about new studio recordings. Now Tim Cross is sadly absent, who is gonna take production duties? TV himself? We'll have to wait and see...

Yeah well okay, I agree about Rev.! But many other songs (not all of them probably) were "tested" live, before they were recorded in a studio, weren't they?

From what I recall albums like NABD and MONTH were both played live and demo'd in the studio.

From what I picked up TV's not doing this approach with the next album.

Only person who really knows if this is a different approach is TV.

From what I remember, some songs like e.g. "Right Hands Rise" were performed live years before their official studio version releases (I first heard this song in Sept 2000, the release of MO was early 2006). Of course TV might have "demoed" it in his "home studio" and kept the song until it fit an album's "style" (most of you will agree that "Right Hands" is perfect for a more "punky" sound).

Also, Tim Cross talked a bit about this in his TUTS interview in 2004:
Quote
It's funny recording songs just as you're learning them, so by the time you get to gig with them, everyone knows them better than you did when you'd recorded them. I think T.V. usually takes most of his songs on the road before they get to me, so he can work out what's the best tempo, what flags and so on. Good idea, really. "Not a bad day" took about 4 years from start to finish because Teeve was touring a lot and I was working on a bunch of other stuff...

Talking of the new album, here's some news revealed in a recent radio live session/interview:
Quote
'Replay' given an exclusive airing.
Which will be on next year's album which is mostly written and partly recorded....in the shed.

I thought you might want to know a bit more about the new album (due for release in 2014, should be April, or later...)!
TV told me it will be a small group of musicians (so far Vom and Jonathan are involved), produced by TV himself.  8)

Getting excited thinking about this.

According to Tim Cross, he felt that Not. Bad Day twinned well with Channel 5 and In The Arms Of My Enemy with March of The Giants.

I recall a conversation I had with TV about the similarities between the 80's Demo's and Coming In to Land?

I feel that Misinformation Overload has a touch of The Red Sea.

They are all new sounds of course.

I wonder what the 2014 album will sound like?

Any thoughts or wishes TUTS?

Like a mix between Generation Y and Cast Of Thousands.
Or maybe not...

Some songs and a bit of guitar maybe?

Vom (dr) and Jonathan (b) are said to be playing on it, so it's not gonna be Acoustic Session Vol. 2!
