So another round of Wales football was in the offing in Cardiff on Saturday and lo & behold our songsmith was playing in Reading on the Friday night.. so it was churlish not to arrange something...
Or hotel had entitled us to free drinkies and canapes in the "Club Lounge" before we left for the venue, so dear readers, 2 bottles of Rose were duly quaffed (there were 2 of us!!, before any suggests that I am a piss-head).. and off we went (with a trumpety-trump) to the Queens Arms. Shock horror!!! NO real ale on tap, only bottles of Fursty Ferret and then only 4 bottles.. I mean how is a growing lad supposed to survive!!!.
There were 3 supports on, the first being an excellent outfit called The Rumpo Kidz who were a 12 piece.. 12, I kid you not and they played various instrument including washboard, jugs and generally had a good time with a variety of tunes ranging from Bankrobber to, Chip Shop Elvis.. all very sing-alongable too. They did a 35 mins set before giving way to Seasons in Shorthand and then Bear Woods, both of whom were "solo's"
TV began his set just after 1030 to a crowd of about 50 and we bounced and sang along to:---
Flavour, Keys, 21, Safety, We stand alone, CITL, Replay, Delete, Lion, No Hope Street, Expensive, Imm Rich, GBM, Gen Y, No Control, String, Open up, My Place, TV Over, What if, Arms, GGE, BT, OCW, Good Times and RTD 70ish minutes in total then a brief stop at the merch for the new book suitably endorsed.... Yet another excellent night on the grand tour..
Saturday saw a drive to South Wales for footy in Newport (1300hrs Kick-off) and then Wales V Serbia (1945).. Well at least neither of my sides here were defeated...
Due to me messing up my gig-list, and claiming 2 gigs in Paderborn... Friday was my 49th.. looks like 50 will have to wait until next year.. A couple in mind.....
Until then dear readers......
