a STRANGE book - Punks & Drunks and Flicks & Kicks
« on: March 30, 2002, 01:10:51 AM »
Hi TVers and DOCers,

Richard Strange's new memoirs 'STRANGE - Punks & Drunks and Flicks & Kicks' is published on May 9th.

DO NOT MISS IT!

Ever wondered who first gave the Sex Pistols thier first break outside of London. Find out what happened and how the story continued right up untill the Pistols reunion tour.

TV Smith is rumoured to be featured several times. Here's a snippet to wet your appetite:

Quote
"TV Smith joined us onstage for two songs that he and I had co-written, Making Machines and The Last Human Being in the World, plus a song called Who Cries For Me? which I had recently finished. I remember we also did a killer version of Lou Reed's Velvet Underground classic What Goes On?" Richard 'Kid' Strange

Quick New Review Of A Strange Book
« Reply #1 on: April 20, 2002, 01:22:41 AM »
Hi TVers and DOCers,

Here at last is a sort of first review of Richard Strange's new memoirs :D

With a quick reply from the Sundance Kid

Quote
A rather splendid posting Sarah,

Of course the Doctors Of Madness remain the greatest band EVER!
Although obviously this is through the work they produced in
those three far too short years.

A few more months and they would have outlived the first wave of
punk - who knows what would have happened then!!!

Kid Sundown

lf as a devotee of the Doctors of Madness from their earliest
gigs in London in 1975, I was thrilled to get a sneak peek at
a book Fair at Richard "Kid" Strange's forthcoming utobiography
"Strange- Punks and Drunks and Flicks and Kicks", which will be
published next month. It is AWESOME!!!

Intellignet, witty, Insightful and above all hilarious, it details, among
many other things, the entire career of the Doctors of Madness- the formation of the band, the development of the music, the gigs, the personalities and, most interstingly, the recording of those three great albums.

If, like me,ou thought that  the Doctors were the greatest band
ever for those three short years from 1975-1978, this book is
essential reading, The Kid writes with warmth, flair, and a real
and passionate voice.

Love your site. Keep it up.  Keep going "Into The Strange"!

Peace  Sarah xx

Hi Jock,

no obvious relation between the strange ones. I thought Tj or at least Kid Sundown would get at your throat immediately, but maybe they are getting soft   . As for the real Strange he appears on 'Later with Jools Holland' this coming Friday night (repeated Sunday). For more info about the man go to http://www.richardstrange.com or take a round-trip at http://strange.qxite.de or go to the doctor's site http://www.doctorsofmadness.co.uk. You' ll find references to TV Smith on all of these pages - you won' t find them on webpages dedicated to Steve Strange   .
