Glad you like it jock.  :)

i never realised Tim Renwick played with Pink Floyd  8) :o

Check his website, sometimes I think it's easier to tell who he didn't play with!  ;)
Of course in Pink Floyd he was only "second guitarist" to back up Dave Gilmour.
For anyone interested to read more about Renwick & Floyd, check out this interview:

There's nothing wrong with Tim playing the music of Pink Floyd. It's those damn cheerful lyrics that put me off. ;D

Yeah DJ, "Time", "Money", "Wish you were here" etc., all very cheerful...  ;)

As I said before, he's played with nearly everybody, check his website, there's lists of session credits, Television appearances etc. etc.
Just a short excerpt from his session credits:
Juniors Eyes Peter & Gordon David Bowie Jackie Lomax Quiver Al Stewart  Sutherland Brothers & Quiver Dana Gillespie Nick Heyward  Leo Sayer Tim Cross Cilla Black Roy Hill  Madonna (!) Cliff Richard (!) Elton John Gary Brooker Dusty Springfield Clare Hamill The Attractions Andy Fairweather-Low Lazy Racer Rachel Sweet Demis Roussos Tom Robinson  Elkie Brooks Gilbert O`Sullivan Sally Oldfield Sarah Brightman Jools Holland Pink Floyd Bee Gees Mike Oldfield Dionne Warwick Roger Daltrey Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton TV Smith Andrew Lloyd-Webber Maggie Reilly Paul Carrack Jennifer Rush Mick Jagger Paul Mccartney Chris Thompson The Zombies  Procol Harum Mike & the Mechanics Eddy Grant Tom Jones Deborah Harry Celine Dion Paul Young The Proclaimers Joe Cocker Mirielle Matthieu (!) and others..

What diversity: Tom Jones, Bee Gees, Mireille Mathieu, all in there...  :o

As TV already said:
"It's always an honour for me to have Renwick on my records," says TV. "It's strange, because I came out of the punk rock era, which set out to destroy many of the bands he was in. But in the end, all that counts is talent. Renwick loves my songs and and I love his guitar playing, and that breaks down all the barriers about whether it's "punk" or not. Everyone on this album is on the same wavelength."

Tim was almost the lead guitarist in Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars. 8)

I'd always assumed that The Party Line was a sort of Channel 5 live show. Did Tim Renwick play with The Party Line TUTS?

That reply confused me a bit as well, as I'm about 98% certain that I did see a photo of TV performing with Renwick, Cross and others in the 80's! (Looking at Renwick's seemingly endless list of sessions, gigs etc. it is however forgivable if he can't remember a few club gigs from the 80's.)

Thanks for all your kind words. I hope this interview helps to celebrate the album release (today in Germany, next week UK)!!

Uli

Maybe he forgot Uli. Or maybe Tim didn't see The Party Line gigs as pure Channel 5 shows.

This got me thinking, did I wrongly identify Tim Renwick in the photos from the Fulham Greyhound gig in '83?

So I had another look and I'm pretty sure that it is Tim Renwick on guitar.

TV would know for sure.....

Not long ago I heard a song on the radio, I'm not sure who the artist is, but I think it's Al Stewart (it sounded a bit similar to his "Year of the cat"), it was a song I'd heard before but do not know well, called "Time Passengers" (I think?), anyway, the guitars on it sounded a lot like Tim Renwick to me!!

Btw, I really like his solo album "Privateer", guitar-based instrumentals of a wide stylistic range, he handles it all: the rock solo guitar, acoustic guitar, gentle strumming and on.  :)

Following Uli's inspiring interview I got the urge to do a couple of things.

First I tracked down Tim Renwick and seriously asked him for a pint. He was totally up for it, but he topped a pint and asked me along to his Bucket Boys gig at the Harbourside Bar at the Charlston Reegetta.

...Which is the next village to Fowey where I'm staying with the former brewers and owners of Cotleigh Brewery.

The World Just Got Smaller Again!  :D

The second inspired act follows ths post.

Thanks Uli. :D :D :D

Thanks! That's nice to be called "inspiring". Usually it's you who's inspiring!  :)

Btw, just had a short look over your interview, unfortunately I gotta get moving soon, as the football's on!  :(
Thankfully, the internet will still be there tomorrow (I hope).

Another great interview read. This time it's Uli's latest with Tim Renwick.

Quote
5. What do you remember about the demos TV recorded in the 80's, did
you play on some of them? What did it feel like re-recording two of
them (Open up your heart and Trojan Horse) a good 20 years later?

We used to get together at Tim Cross's house and I'd stick guitar
parts on various tunes of TV's not really knowing whether they were
demos or not! I really liked both of those songs, although the
original Trojan Horse sounds a little wobbly these days - hence the re-
recording.

I just love reading about those 80's demo's. Definately another purple patch in my opinion. Interesting that Tim Renwick thought they might be for an actual studio released album.

Quote
15. Finally, will you be working with TV again? Have you ever
considered playing a special gig with him (like Tim Cross did for
 "Earthbound" fan gatherings)?

I would love to work with TV in a live situation - just waiting to be asked!

...I asked Tim Renwick about this in Cornwall and he's still eagerly awating the call up.  :D
