DMW were great, but where was TV Smith?

They were excellent TV and only you could have made it a better gig.

I didn't have a chat with them though, so if you get the time join them on stage later in the tour.

You need to check out their website for dates.

Not Walking When I Saw Them !
« Reply #1 on: March 21, 2002, 06:53:10 PM »
Hi TJ,

Saw Mike Peters,Pete Wylie & Kirk Brandon all play at The Alarm 2002 gig at the Shepherds Bush Empire three months back.
It was cracking  :!:  :!:  :!:
Suppose you could say I saw Dead Men Walking by default except they all played separate sets.
I assume TV know Mike Peters because I saw Mike in the crowd at the Punkaid Festival at the 100 club when TV was playing.
Would have been excellent to see TV play with them especially to a larger audience  :D
Will be checking the web site for details.

Thanks mate  PK  8)

Hi PK,

You could do with an internet name now you are using the site so often. How about Nelson, after the famous F1 racing driver Nelson PK

All this Dead Men Walking stuff came from Kirk Brandon saying that Mike Peters has said "TV Smith is a legend, if he turns up at one of our gigs we will roll out the red carprt for him to come on stage with us." :P

Mike Peters confirmed this to me at a Leeds gig last in Winter 2001.

Anyone want to guess why I always finish my postings with a  8)  :?:

Incidently is TJ not your intials  :?: does it stand for something else  :?:  :?:

And no cant guess why you end your posts with   8)

Just though Id mention that I first saw the Alarm support SLF at Leicester University on a bitterly cold night in 1981 on the SLF "Go FOR IT TOUR".
They were fantastic (nearly as good as SLF-and thats praise indeed) and I have been a massive fan of Mike Peters ever since.Top bloke

Cheers :)  :)

Hello,

never got the chance to see the original Alarm live.
But I saw them two times during their Alarm 2000 tour last year.
(Or was it the year before last year?)
It was great to hear all those classic Alarm-songs played by Mike Peters backed by a band.

Just like TJ, I also forced Mike Peters to talk about TV Smith.
He agreed, that TV is a great musician, and he admitted
"But TV does better lyrics than me", I had to confirm this and
just said. "I know".
Looks like he was a little baffled by this.
By now he should be used to TV Smith fans talking to him.

BTW: This little conversation did happen during Big Country's farewell tour two years ago. Mike Peters did a solo support.
I missed Mike Peters. We Coundn't find a parking lot. Then I was disappointed by Big Country as they played too much of their crappy last album. But in the end I was able to talk to Mike Peters.

Mike Peters is also working on an ace new CD
« Reply #7 on: March 23, 2002, 01:44:32 PM »
Hi Peter and Lee  8O Oops! TV fans,

Mike is also about to release a new CD this year and like TV he is getting better and better with age.  His last CD 'Rise' was his best ever to date. He really was on top form in Dead Men Waking last week - he never stopped smiling :)

C'mon TV, Klaus and I have done the ground work - join Dean Men Walking on stage. :P

They call themselves The Resistance - the alternative to naff crap pop idal mucis. songs like Future and Flavour would fit right in with their theme. :P

Hi PK,

Yeah I admit that Tj is my initials (Tim John) - I used Tj though originally as a pun about myself and my best mate Smit attending a gig in Northalleton. TJ & Smith > TV Smith - get it :?:  :?

The  8) :?:  - well sad to say , but back in the punk days I wore shades all the time. No wonder TV does't recognise me
