Got to Stamford last night and parked up in a mobbed car park right next to the venue. When I turned the engine off I could hear a throbbing bass line and saw lots of people heading towards the venue...
...which was very close to the funfair that was the source of the music and where many of the crowd were heading.
"Oh well! Let's hope some of the good people of Stamford are coming to the gig" I thought.
Of course they were. I got downstairs to find an already healthy crowd listening to a horrible noise from a band led by a guy in a wrestling mask. I see Alan and, much as I dislike smoking, ask him if he wants to go up for a smoke rather than listen to the horrible noise - he did.
We have a nice chat/moan/rant on various topics and see Class arrive. He joins us shortly before TJ, Smit and his mate Chris also arrive. A quick catch up all round is followed by us moving inside for the main event.
TV is welcomed by a sizeable and very enthusiastic crowd and plays a storming set. He rapidly gets into a pattern of old song/new song until the newest ones are exhausted and a 'classic collection' follows. As its his first visit to Stamford, the crowd are treated to the poem prior to the usual set closers and he's quickly invited back for a three song nuclear-themed encore.
His merch table looks very busy, so I go for some air before returning for my copy of the lyric book and record set. With that, it's pretty much time for farewells as Cardiff is calling for several of the party...
Over to Alan for that one.
Cracking stuff - 10/10.
