Punk in London
« on: March 15, 2002, 08:29:48 PM »
Just received it in the post tonight and I can't recommend this DVD enough; it has live footage of the Adverts at the Marquee (circa '77) blasting through One Chord Wonders and the end of Gary Gilmore, it then includes footage from a couple of Berlin gigs (from '78?) and covers Gary Gilmores Eyes, Love Songs, Televisions Over, and Great British Mistake.

It also features the Clash (6 songs or so), X Ray Spex, Lurkers, Subway Sect, and the Jam. And it even includes the Killjoys who later became Dexys Midnight Runners....

Just for your interest: the live footage isn't from Berlin, it's the live songs taken from the notorious "Brennende Langweile" film made for German TV, filmed at various gigs in the Cologne, Düsseldorf, Wuppertal area.

Glad you liked the DVD Alan  :D

Did you recognise the bass player from the lurkers from the Lincoln 33 gig :?:

One day my copy from borders will arrive. I bought my DVD player in the same week as I ordered it (second week of 2002.)

See you later Tj 8)

Aha I guesssed that some of the footage was a little 'staged', the brief discussion at the bar mid-song plus the pretty blonde girl were the give-aways!

TJ

Arthur looks rather young in the film - was that his real mum and dad? Plus I thought he was in Pinpoint in '78 (I saw them play a couple of times) and that the Lurkers had a different bass player at that time?

Hi jock,

Ask Alan - he managed to get a copy straight away - it's somewhere on the forum, maybe Klaus can find it for you.

Hi jock and TJ,

immediately went looking for it and found the address:
Alan posted it on March 10th
http://www.play.com/

So it took 13 days to get delivered.
