Quote
Most Americans would probably be astounded to realize that the president who has been painted by Washington pundits as a reluctant warrior has actually been a hawk. The Iran nuclear deal, a herculean achievement, and the opening of diplomatic relations with Cuba unfortunately stand alone as President Obamaís successful uses of diplomacy over hostility.

While candidate Obama came to office pledging to end George W Bushís wars, he leaves office having been at war longer than any president in US history. He is also the only president to serve two complete terms with the nation at war.

President Obama did reduce the number of US soldiers fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, but he dramatically expanded the air wars and the use of special operations forces around the globe. (...)

President Obama has claimed that his overseas military adventures are legal under the 2001 and 2003 authorizations for the use of military force passed by Congress to go after al-Qaida. But todayís wars have little or nothing to do with those who attacked the United States on September 11, 2001.

The twisted legal architecture the Obama administration has constructed to justify its interventions, especially extrajudicial drone killings with no geographic restrictions, will now be transferred into the erratic hands of Donald Trump.

Trump twittered/posted this (apparently, I don't "follow" his posts anywhere...)

Getting ready to leave for Washington, D.C. The journey begins and I will be working and fighting very hard to make it a great journey for the American people. I have no doubt that we will, together, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Sounds suspiciously like "YES WE CAN..." to me!  ;D  ;D  ;D  :P

Lots and lots and lots of resentment, anxiety and bad-feeling for starters?

Probably. What I meant, in this case, was: how many courts will stop this... hopefullly a lot.

And at least 20 demonstrations in this country alone on Saturday.
Also one tonight outside Downing Street. I'll be there if the trains aren't 'mysteriously' cancelled.

Huh? It seems to me like my above post was misunderstood? I put in a link and these sentences were why:
Quote
A federal judge in Brooklyn issued an emergency stay Saturday night against President Donald Trump's executive order banning immigration from certain predominantly Muslim countries, temporarily allowing people who have landed in the United States with a valid visa to remain.

Also one tonight outside Downing Street. I'll be there ...

Thumbs up!  8)

Not misunderstood Uli - I just doubt that many in authority that SHOULD react will only do so by keeping their heads down and their mouths closed.

Let's hope the Trumper gets fed up sooner rather than later.

Will he serve a full term? I can't see it.

Well, articles I see today, talk of a rough wind blowing in his face... which I take as a positive sign.

Quote
Tension is mounting between the two Washingtons.

Today, Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced he is filing a lawsuit against Donald Trump, officials in his administration and the Department of Homeland Security, claiming the presidentís executive order barring some immigrants from entering the country is unconstitutional. Washington is the first state to sue President Trump over his immigration order.

Amazon and Expedia, two Seattle-area tech giants, are filing declarations of support for the lawsuit, detailing the negative impacts of Trumpís policy on their operations and employees.

Unions and education activists urged Lisa Murkowski to oppose Trumpís education pick. On Tuesday, in a testament to the power of grassroots resistance, Murkowski switched.

"grassroots resistance" - I like that.  8)

Good strategies to apply:
1. Don't use his name;
2. Remember this is a regime and he's not acting alone;
3. Do not argue with those who support him--it doesn't work;
4. Focus on his policies, not his orange-ness and mental state;
5. Keep your message positive; they want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies will grow.
6. No more helpless/hopeless talk
7. Support artists and the arts
8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it.
9. Take care of yourselves; and
10. Resist!
