The Peer Hat, Manchester 14/12/19
I was lucky enough to get to TV's first gig of 2019 in Worcester and on Saturday just gone, his last UK show at The Peer Hat, Manchester. In between these 2, there's been another 13 shows, the highlight of which was probably the run of gigs with The Bored Teenagers but this Manchester show came close to eclipsing even those (with obviously not a bad show in sight!).
Hopefully it will now be a tradition to have a December show in Manchester (Star & Garter last year) and even a 12 hour shift at work wasn't going to stop me going to this one.
The Peer Hat was a new venue for TV (and myself) with the music taking place in the cellar below the bar. The sound was spot on, both supports were good - Matthew Hopkins & The Harveys (formally known as Harvey's Rabbit have supported Tim at The Dulcimer in previous years).
After the events earlier in the week, I think everyone (TV included) needed a lift and boy did we get one!
We don't usually see TV with tinsel around the mic stand but he was trying to "drag every little bit of joy out of life that I can and tinsel around the mic stand will do at the moment"!
Aptly, No Control kicked off the show with the rest of the setlist as follows:
Keys To The World
No Time To Be 21
Never Again, Until The Next Time
Replay
I Delete
March Of The Giants
Only One Flavour
Lion & The Lamb
Expensive Being Poor
Immortal Rich
Great British Mistake
Tomahawk Cruise
Bombsite Boy
No Hope Street
Last Lost Sheep
The Drink
Xmas Bloody Xmas
Can't Pay, Won't Pay
My String Will Snap
Land Of The Overdose
Gary Gilmore's Eyes
Bored Teenagers
One Chord Wonders
Generation Y
Runaway Train Driver
with the new songs going down as well with the audience as the older tunes.
It was nice to catch up with TV & Sally for the last time this year (overall a bloody good year - for gigs anyway).
Here's to 2020.
