Stiff "One Chord Wonders" session.
« on: November 18, 2020, 02:59:39 PM »
I was always under the impression that only 'One Chord Wonders' & 'Quickstep' were recorded for Stiff but reading an old interview with TV (The New Wave Magazine) from just before the single release, he's asked about the B-side of the single and says:

"Well we've done a few more tracks. We haven't quite decided what it's gonna be. Might be 'New Boys' actually. That's the most likely one for the B-side."

So it seems that at least this was was recorded at the same time? Wonder what happened to that version?

Maybe Tim was referring to the Basement Tapes recordings and not specifically tracks recorded for Stiff?

That did cross my mind but as the interview was on the same night as the High Wycombe gig review (1st April) and the Stiff sessions were done in March just before the gig, why would TV mention that they'd done a few more tracks if he was talking about the earlier (December? '76) recordings? Also he said that they hadn't yet chosen the B-side, if only Quickstep had been recorded at the time, there wouldn't have been a choice.
Unless it was to get us talking about it 40 odd years later!
After all, he is the "Nostradamus of Punk"!
