I'd love to make this one. It's a great little venue with an enthusiastic local crowd. But at this short notice I don't think 'the boss' will let me go. ;D

Antwerp-gig seems to be moved to Tilburg. I know we live in a worldwide community, but Tilburg is in another country (the Netherlands, not Belgium). I was really looking forward to have two of my heroes (TV & Subs) in Belgium, but it looks like that is not going to happen. Can anyone persuade the Subs' agency to come to Belgium?

They tried...but unfortunately it was so late before they realised (thanks to you) that a f•ck up had occurred that it was impossible to find a replacement gig in Belgium. Tilburg was the nearest they could get.

So...is it before 8 or after 9.30, then?

I'm confused  ???

I'll probably get there reasonably early, anyway.

As for the ale, I'm no warm-water freak either!  :D

I didn't :(

Was just about to leave for Shoreham when, fortunately, Nick sent me a txt to say it'd sold out.

Two minutes later, I received another txt telling me that I was on the guest list at the New Cross Inn for Honest John Plain + Max Splodge - not quite  the same thing, but better than nothing.

John was superb, btw.

I wonder what life on the road with the Subs is like? Is Charlie a party animal dragging TV out to get a stranglehold on some poor unsuspecting young female, or do the Subs and TV just settle down for Cocoa and a pack of Rich Teas.

Last night TV played a great set @ Düsseldorf - Stone:

- Soundcheck -
Only One Flavour
No Time To Be 21
Coming In To Land
Lion And The Lamb
Expensive Being Poor
Immortal Rich
Worn Once
Complaints Dept.
New Church
Lords Prayer
Der Stacheldrahtmann
The Rock'n'Roll
Dangerous Playground
The Drink
In The Arms Of My Enemy
Gary Gilmore's Eyes
Bored Teenagers
One Chord Wonders

A lot of people were at the venue. Klaus and Kalle were there too. Also Vom and Duncan from the Boys.
UK Subs were great too...although they played as the main act a shorter set than TV  :o

And TV was able to sell the new ep...and I bought one  ;D ;D ;D

God bless Babelfish - "coming in tons of land" indeed!

TV Smith is a that, which survived the first Punkwelle at that time: as a singer of the automatic data processing RTS it brought two fantastische albums out - afterwards it created the Explorers as well as Cheap and is since that solo on the way. After it last year (2011) the marvelous album " Coming in tons of Land" published, is present now - pressfreshly - a CD single and/or a EP: Dangerous Playground. TV Smith was asked to write for a theatre project in Trier “the cold kiss of warm beer” some songs. Since TV Smith tourt for many years constantly in Germany and also well speaks German, it does not only have four new songs composed, so also one directly in German language. After the piece " It disturbs me nicht" from the album " Misinformation Overload" is now the second song on German. Differently than the last album this EP developed alone together with its friend and way companion Tim CROSS. Economical instrumenting - more is not necessary also, because the songs speak for itself. As I am to say: after me " Coming in tons of Land" again, how someone, which is so for a long time in music industry, vibrates still so mad songs from the sleeve, sets TV Smith with these EP still one surprised drauf. The EP appeared with the English label boss Tuneage and mainly on that up-to-date will run route (together with the UK Subs) and then in Trier sells. It understood actual as it - a limited edition. The EP is to be able to be ordered then however later also over the homepage by TV Smith. Therefore I can only guess/advise: access - it is worthwhile itself!

We had a great night in Pforzheim. We arrived at the venue "Haus der Jugend" in the town centre around 8pm. Chatted to TV at the merch desk, who told us that these 6 weeks are his longest tour ever. (He still has lots of energy 5 weeks in.)

Support act The Lennons started around 8.40pm, only had half an hour. Played lots of their old "hits" from "Der Koenig ist tot" (the king is dead - written in memory of Elvis) to "Claudia". Their drummer really kicks some ass!
TV went onstage 9.30pm and was finished by 10.20pm. The audience liked him and cheered a lot, no matter if he played old stuff from Adverts or a brand new song like the very catchy "The Drink"! Unfortunately he had to change a string, so time ran out and he could not perform another song after BT.  :(

UK Subs then sounded very loud and monotonous to my ears. It was okay to hear "Down on the farm" etc., but after a while I was tired, so bought the new EP from TV, said bye-byes and went.

Gabumon will be pleased to receive a setlist from Pforzheim (100% correct, Chrissie took notes via mobile phone):
1 Get It Now
2 No Time To Be 21
3 Coming in to land
4 Only One Flavour
5 Lion and the lamb
6 Expensive being poor
7 Immortal rich
8 Great British Mistake
9 The Drink
10 Dangerous Playground
11 New Church
12 Lords Prayer
13 Generation Y
14 Gary Gilmores Eyes
15 Bored teenagers

yay, setlists :D

Was Strange Today, as you know the A57 is Closed because a Missing Bridge, so i had to take the A44/A61, both Closed because of a Bomb... so Much Traffic Jam, needed 3 1/2 Hours to Aachen instead 1 1/2. But make it in Time for Soundcheck.

The Bunker is a real Bunker, so if somebody would lock the doort you would never come out Again, Strange thing. First Band was Alerta! they even dont had all equipment, but i was out to my car to get my Painpils (Backpain and stuff) and only saw the Last Song. Not my Stuff.

Vom was there, so TV played the New Single without Vom, ok  3 Songs because Vom came to Early on Stage, so the Drink was missing. TV and Vom played a Hitset, TV broke 2 Stings but no My Sting will Snap this Gig. They even Played an encore.

UK Subs had much Fans there, was a great gig, but i still dont know a Single song.
TV Played 55 Minutes (without encore Break) and the UK Subs 50 Minutes (without Encore Break)

Hm, really strange how differently people viewed this.  ???
How was the sound?

Ilove, you do know that this was a "live streaming", i.e. TV can not control how it looks on the screen as he is on stage in that moment it goes over to your computer?

Also bei mir hat er Funktioniert, hab aber nur noch den letzten rest mitbekommen

So Review for Den Haag. Den Haag is a castatroph for Car Driving, they Close Roads in the City when they wanted, and no GPS could work with that. I needed 40 Minutes to get to the Venue instead of 5 Minutes. Made it in Time for SOundcheck, the First Band Disturbance could not play first, because the Bass Player had to Work so TV had to start. It was Surprising, even for the Staff, that the Venue gets so full, it was nearly Sold out. Even at the Time TV Started.

TV played a nice 45 Minutes Set, with some of my Favorite Songs and sone Hits. Broken String after the Second song. Unfortunatly there was no Time for Encores. Disturbance was a Dutch Hardcore Band, and had some Fans there, so much Pogo and the Venue gets even more Packet, now it was really Sold out. The UK Subs started a bit delayed but still in Time, They Played a 60 Minutes Set (longest UK Subs Gig i got on this Tour). Here was much Pogo and a very intensive Crowd too. I had fear for my Netbook because there was much Stage Diving. But anything went good.  Leaved soon after UK Subs finished, and hell, endet up in that nearly closed City again, i feeled like an Unwelcome Guest in Den Haag.

Just got home but what a great night! TV had a short set but managed to cram in one of the new songs, Coing Into Land, Generation Y, In The Arms of Enemy, Gary Gilmore's Eyes, One Chord Wonders and Back From The Dead (both with Richard Strange), before an encore of Complaint Department rounded things off.

And the other acts - poets / comedy / musical comedy made for an entertaining evening all round!
To bed....

From Mr Strange:

"My thanks to all of you who made it along to Cabaret Futura this week.  It was one of the best ever, with my old friend of 35 years standing, the great TV Smith, tore the house down with his songs, old and new.

What a joy to join  him onstage again for Back from The Dead. which we wrote together in 1977!!!

Phil Philmar, Shit Theatre, Ginger Light, Jeremy Reed, Fynn Farrell and Natasha Stewart all dazzled with their artistry

The next Cabaret Futura will be on June 18th."

Due to this Ruts DC obviously had the night off so Leigh Heggarty popped along to The Members / Jetsonics gig in Ruislip last night. Never spoken to him before but he's a lovely bloke. He convinced me that I really ought to come along to the 12 Bar on Thursday to see him and Tim doing 'duelling banjos' or whatever they've got planned. :)

Anyway, I'm off to see TV in Ipswich.

Apologies. My errors. Must've misheard or misunderstood.
1.) Leigh is going along to the 12 Bar gig to see TV but isn't planning to play.
2.) The 12 Bar gig is Saturday NOT Thursday as I thought. Unfortunately, that also means I can't be there.

Had a great 2-gig night tonight :)

Saw The Phobics at the New Cross Inn (supporting The Outcasts) then a quick drive into town to see TV.

Got there just in time to say hello to Tim and Gaye, then took my place at the front.

Set as follows:

Only One Flavour
No Time To Be 21
Coming In To Land
We Who Wait
The Future Used To Be Better
Lion & The Lamb
Expensive Being Poor
Immortal Rich
Cutbacks
Complaints Dept
Great British Mistake
New Church
Lord's Prayer
Dangerous Playground
My String Will Break
You Saved My Life...
Television's Over
Generation Why
In The Arms Of My Enemy
Gilmour...
Bored...
(My notes suddenly say '...Ooh look - there's Pauline Murray!!!') :-[
One Chord Wonders
(encore)
Maybe The Good Times...

A good-ish crowd - enthusiastic and very vocal.

And I met Pauline Murray!

Nice woman :)

Bed time...

Got ticket for York next month, meeting TJ there for a few real ales before the gig. Looked up the venue "The Basement" and it`s a great little venue under a picturehouse next to the river that holds 100.
After seeing TV and the Valentines 6 times in the last 18 months it`s going to make a change to get back to some accoustic stuff.

Try The Guy Fawkes Inn, near York Minster. Great pub.

Guy Fawkes is great, one of many in York GJ. It's just backed with great real ale boozers. Unlike Morecambe.  ;)

I've promised to take Claret to The Tap at the train station. the best selection of ales I've ever seen in a pub. :o

Great gig at 12 Bar - quite small, but absolutely packed out.  A mixture of fans who knew all the words and others possibly seeing TV live for the first time, no doubt having seen the documentary.  Especially loved 'Great British Mistake'.....seems to be more relevant now than ever.

Stayed on for Garden Gang afterwards and they were pretty good too!

You still coming along GJ? Fancy and ale or two in the amazing York Tap at the rail station? It's a permanent mega beer festival of the finest in the land.

Cardiff..   Same day as Leeds at home and Cwlb Ivor Bach is excellent, small and "atmospheric!"

Dusseldorf..   Oooh.

Looking at the forecast for York tonight it The Basement survives the day it may clear up in the evening.

My earlier pub crawl with Claret and then Ektaff maybe more of a pub swim than a pub crawl.

well the river looked pretty close when I looked out of the window! Fabulous gig, big turnout, great atmosphere. Pleasure, as always, to meet up with TJ and Chris again. Met EK Taff too for the 1st time. Hope TV plays here again. We were treated to a new song too. The only minor moan was the bar ran out of beer but I managed to get into the Trembling Madness bar afterwards for some Manchester Marble beer. A great night.

Wish you'd told me and Claret you were going back go The House of Trembling Madness GJ, we'd have come with you. What was the Marble ale?

The only thing wrong with the gig (bar the hanpulled York ale running out) is that TV doesn't play any songs were you can have a toilet break.

It was a set full of TV anthems. Like a live 'Useless' sequel.

Still loving the newest ones like Dangerous Playground, The Drink, Coming In To Land, Worn Once and Cut Backs.

When I did take a toliet break, two young blokes were discussing the gig. "TV Smith's got such passion and energy and have you heard how powerful his lyrics are?"

One of the things I love about TV Smith & The TUTS gigs are the adventures that happen around the gig.

Yesterdays adventure featured a mighty rainstorm, my missing tadpoles, a visit to a fire station and a magical York pub crawl around The House of Trembling Madness, The Maltings, York Tap and The Pivni with Claret and EKTaff and his mate (who anounced that the 7% Temple Brave New World was thge best beer he'd ever tasted in his life).

Good to catch up with TV, GJ and my new mate Paul Bedders at the The Basement for a cracking set with really friendly atmosphere.

Can`t really add anymore about last nights gig than has already been said. A big thanks to TJ for his hospitality and the great tour round all the real Ale pubs!
Nice to meet EKTaff again after 4 years and good to see Gareth again (See you at Rebellion on the Sunday GJ).
Really good to see a TV Smith venue full, or very nearly anyway, must have been because we had to sit on the floor in front of the stage as all the seats were taken. Anyway it all added to a great Atmosphere with a really enthusiastic crowd- Another excellent gig.

Great gig at the leopard last night, my wife was still awake when I got home at 1-30 in the morning and asked me the usual question, "did you have a good time? to which I replied - have I ever been to a bad TV Smith gig?- enough said!
Nice to see TJ and Lisa again and always great to see Fred (please please come back to the forum!).
Storming set from TV as usual with about 70 people in attendance (TJ counted them)
Set list from memory is as follows and not in order;-

Only one Flavour
My string will snap
GGY
Bored Teenagers
Expensive being poor
One cord wonders
Generation Y
Immortal Rich
Ready for the axe to Drop
Lion and the Lamb
Lords Prayer
Clone Town
Dangerous Playground
Worn Once
Coming in to Land
You saved my life then Ruined it
March of the Giants (Still my fav TV Smith song)
Lion and the Lamb
Runaway Train Driver
New Church
No time to be 21
Great British Mistake
Atlantic Tunnel
In The Arms of my Enemy
That`s it as far as I can Remember but I may have missed one or two!
Claret.

There you go Teev. One set list. You get your miracle for just daring to ask.

At a glance I didn't notice Fred's Atlantic Tunnel and it wat Snap. Don't recall Axe but do remember In The Arms of My Enemy. Bar that great job Claret if that was all from memory.

The definite runaway best live song of the evening was Dangerous Playground.

Arrive in Balingen towards 9pm. As usual, I take a wrong turn and end up in an unknown part of town...
(I should've known better as this happened last time as well; should look at a map again before leaving.)
But soon I find the parking space I've used since the first time I went to Sonnenkeller Balingen (May 2008), only a short walk to the place across the little river. The "Sonnenkeller" is downstairs from a restaurant, before I head down the stairs I see familiar faces behind the windows of the restaurant - it's Mariann, René, Ilona and Wolfgang!  :)
I take short look downstairs (not much happening yet) and go upstairs again to say hello to all of them. They are just paying and we go downstairs into the bar, where we meet TV himself. Pamp is starting his solo support gig soon. He presents a good collection of new and some older Garden Gang songs!
Then TV is on, audience is a bit slim on a Wednesday, but he receives good applause (as he should!) for his starting with "Not a bad day". Following on from this are many classics and a few rare songs (good idea, as so many long-time TUTS are present). Mariann took notes of the setlist, so I hope this will turn up asap. ;) I do remember he played "Coming in to land" and "The Drink" and "Dangerous Playground" from his latest studio offerings (2011/12) and many older songs incl. "My string will snap" (no, there wasn't a broken string this time!) plus the usual "hits" from the Adverts.
"Straight And Narrow" is a song I hadn't heard performed live in 10 years (last time was at the legendary gig in Stuttgart Roehre 2002 I think - anyone remember those gigs in Stuttgart 2002/2003??)! Similar with "Borderline" and "Gather your things and go"!
And TV plays two songs from the new compilation of old demos: "The Right Time" and (the title track) "Lucky Us" (as a tribute to the late Tim Cross). Lucky we feel to be able to listen to those gems!  :)
For the encore TV even treats us to a new song called "Long Gone"! Very good it sounds too!  8)
Afterwards we all chat for a good old while until it gets really late as usual. I buy lots of stuff from the merch table (Lucky Us, March of the Giants re-master, new diary book). Sonnenkeller is a good place for gigs (been here 4 times now), just wish it was closer.
Ilona and Wolfgang are heading home; Pamp and TV call for a taxi to their "hotel" (they think they need some more wine before facing sleep!); Mariann & René walk to their guest house, so it's all bye-bye and "see you next time". Always good to meet TV & Pamp & nice TUTS! :)
Then I'm driving home on almost empty country roads (it's around 2am now) underneath the stars. And then off to sleep...

Well Another top night in Manchester last night, Louise Distras, Pascal and TV Smith on the same Bill- a real tripple treat !
Couldn`t get there till 8-30 so only cought the last 4 numbers of Louis`s set but I like her songs and thought she was great at Rebellion, Pascal up next and he did about 40 -50 mins and I thought he was outstanding, never seen him before on his own (Only with TV or Start).
About 60-70 people in the small cellar music room so a great turnout for a Tuesday night, made for a great atmosphere as well.
TV on at about 10 pm and gave his usual high energy performance ( when has he ever not done?) each number given loud appreciation by all. Pascal came on and did the last 4 or 5 numbers with TV which gave a brilliant end and had everybody wanting more.
One funny bit of the gig which had me still laughing on my way home was that TV had just finished New Church (I think) and was telling everyone he had written a Xmas song he was about to play and that the subject of the last song was not as bad as "Bloody Christmas" when an 8 year old lad who had turned up with his parents and been as quiet as a mouse all night suddenly shouted out in a very upset tone "BUT I LOVE CHRISTMAS" !! TV looked at him hiding behind the metal pillar and said "tell you what you can have your Christmas it`s ok, just stick your fingers in your ears whilst I play this next song"- priceless.
Set List  (Not in order)

Not a Bad Day
Borderline
March of The Giants (Hurrah!)
You saved my Life then Ruined it
Bored Teenagers
Expensive being Poor
Only one Flavour
Gen Y
New Church
Xmas Bloody Xmas
No time to be 21
Televisions over
Great British mistake
Coming in to Land
Together Alone
In The Arms of My Enemy
GGY  (With Pascal)
Good times Are Back (With Pascal)
Lion And The Lamb (With Pascal)
One Chord Wonders (With Pascal).

Report from Day 2 & Day 3 of the Residency at The Pitcher Dusseldorf.

East Kent Taff & West Hampstead Tone travelled out by Eurostar on Saturday 3rd..  1057 ex St Pancras and arrived Dusseldorf 1601 (UK Time)..   Book through your favourite Rail Agents , Rail Canterbury (01227 450088)...  Ok plug over..

We based ourselves at the Ibis at Dusseldorf station, mainly because we had an early start home on the Monday.. so 120 euros for 2 nights, B & B, with a 10 Euro voucher to spend in the bar.

We duly caught the S Bahn 1 stop to the venue and arrived just after 6 as the poster had stated that Stage was 7pm.. This was however incorrect, so a quick bite to eat then back to see if our tickets had arrived (being delivered by Mssrs Fleague & Klaus).  The aforesaid bearer of tickets arrived around 7.30.  Fleags had been unwell and was not attending.  The Pitcher is a small bar, with a small stage, but a good vantage point was found and TVOM duly entered at around 9pm.  In previous correspondence with Vom, it turned out that he was originally from Stanford-Le-Hope in Essex and had actually attended the same school as my Dad, although around 70 years apart..  When corresponding with him on FB, our usual banter begins with "Essex Boy", so I had duly arranged for a T Shirt to be done with "Essex Boy" on it "Frankie says! style".

The songs came with their usual fast pace, the crowd were very receptive and a good "mosh" abounded or should that be "abounced", especially with GGE, String, BT and RTD to end the show a good 1hr 45 minutes later.

Day 3 (Day 2 for me at WH Tone), saw us "playing trains" at Wuppertal and then Bochum railway museum, but duly arrived back at The Pitcher at around 8.15.  Fleags was in attendance, but did look a bid "tender", but he was hoping to stay the course.  Again, show time was around 9pm, and although the crowd was a little lighter, there was more room "at the front" to "get into the action", which one did with aplomb.  Again a set of around 1hr 35, curtailed by TV's guitar failing, a couple more drinks at the bar, before heading back to the hotel and oh look that 10 euro voucher was still in the pocket, well it would be churlish not to use it!!!

Early start then this morning, aiming for the 0750 from Dusseldorf, but electrical failures and trains all delayed, but Koln was reached in time for the Thalys, Fleags was in attendane and a good ride back via the Eurostar with us arriving back in London just after 2.15.

Pictures have been posted in the gallery.

Thanks to TV, Vom & Thomas for (for us) 2 excellent nights, and here's to the next time...

NO THANKS to all others who went and remained silent ever since.   >:(

Well, I went but had a lot of other things on my plate over the last days, not a least thanks to a surprise visit from 2 americans sunday night which in combination with the weekend left me seriously sleep deprived for a while ;)
Also I wasn't really sure what to write, cause my 2-day stiint there left me strangely disappointed, although TV and Vom did 2 great shows...

Anyway, some short review for you:
I went there with my boyfriend, my brother + another friend, booked a cheap hotel near the pitcher (Antares, OK hotel for the price, but not super-comfortable beds). Convinced 2 more friends from near Essen to drive over on the first day and join us. First lots of nice korean food, then arrived at the pitcher at 8:30 (as we already knew it wouldn't start before) to get our reserved tickets and join the - already very big - crowd. Really full venue and it was quite a bit of work to get to a suitable place somewhere in the front half of the pitcher with at least some views of the stage - no chance to get my usual place in the front rows. TVOM where great as always, lots of fun joking going on between them and great music in between. We really enjoyed it and my 2 friends were sad that they couldn't get tickets for saturday night, too. Lots of dancing and singing and general good mood around us - and meeting Fleagle and EKT was a nice surprise. Really enjoyed the first night (and was looking forward to the next day), only downside was all the smoke (am not used to that anymore) which left me with a really bad headache by the end of the night...
The second day:
Spent a nice icecold afternoon in the Düsseldorf Altstadt, including trying some beers and cocktails already. Arrived at the pitcher even later than on friday, but still on time. Were a bit lazy and thought we didn't bother with fighting for a place in the crowded front and stay in the background, which probably was my mistake. The show for sure was great again (and different enough from the first evening), but I didn't really got the live feeling beeing so far behind and most of the talk/joking between TV and VOM wasn't understandable at all in the back. Maybe should have tried to get in front, cause as nice as the music was, it didn't really feel like other TV gigs to me, I wasn't really pulled into it but felt more like an outsider just listening to something nice - strange and a bit of a disappointing feeling for me, but definetely not because the show was worse than on other times, just the círcumstances...

What should I learn from that?
- as much as I like it for TV if the venue is sold out, I enjoy the ones that are a bit less crowded a lot more
- I'm obviously not born for standing in the background and just listening on a gig, so I shouldn't try it. Just get in front and into the action next time, no matter how tired
- the pitcher is better if I go there alone, cause somehow then I always end up in the front rows which makes all the difference

And now I'd really like to get another TV gig somewhere where I can go and where it's a bit less crowded, please :)

That's a pretty good and accurate revue...except I had to miss the 2nd half of the set 'cause of the late start and extreme over running of the support acts. I had to leave just before midnight 'cause of an early start the following morning.
But I have to say it's a great venue and I'll be watching out for more shows there by TV and others. I can get there in the car in 35 minutes. :)

12 Bar, Denmark Street.  07th December 2012

The intrepid duo of my self and West Hampstead Tone, duly arrived just after 7 and paid a very reasonable £7 for entry.  TV & Leigh were doing soundcheck and then retired to the "artistes waiting area" (also known as the Bar.. and Merch stall).  I went back to the performance area to see The Lost Cherees.  Very good and they had a good following, but for me was spoilt by a couple, heavy barging into others watching..  so it was off to bar..  (any excuse, yeah I know).

During our time there, several members of other bands, performing locally had called in and for me it was a case of "I know him & him & him"..  Bumped into the boy Slaughter (at the bar)..

Back to the performance area for Pascal Briggs' new band (Root Awakening), superb.

Then back again for Louise Distras..  Wow! lets just say difficult to concentrate on the music (Phil, behave.. you are writing the review!!).  Ok, did I mention that Louise was superb.. oh I did, but I cant find the delete button so sod it..  Excellent voice!!

The Crows were next, again a very tight band, getting a good response from the crowd.

TV & Leigh were on at 10.45, straight into it, full-on power performances, joined midway by Pascal, the sight of TV, Leigh & Pascal giving the guitars some real hammer was a joy to see, getting a huge reaction from the 100+ crowd.

All over too quickly after an hour, retired to the merch to get the Explorers CD, and to chat to Louise.. oh did I mention that she was on?, perhaps next time...

2 of my friends were TV "virgins", they have mailed me today to check on the next gig.. happy to oblige!!

Next week Folkestone and "Fruitbat" on the bill as well..  oh happy days..  now where's my Louise CD....

Oh yes the set-list.  All with Leigh Heggarty

21, B.Teen, Tommy Cruise, The Servant, CITL, Expensive, Axe, Saved my life, Buried by the machine, Arms.  Joined by Pascal for..  Lords Prayer, Lion, GGE, OCW, Good Times.  then TV & Leigh only for RTD

One of the things that I love about seeing TV live, is that no show is the same. I mean just compare Liverpool with 12 Bar, ok apart from the obvious GGE & 21, 10 different songs...

Well there were more people than when I last visited the Met Lounge; not a bad turn out on a cold Wednesday night!

Had a chance to chat to TV  and sort out his marketing strategy and suggest a few song titles - he looked very grateful but before he could properly express his gratitude Smit and his mate Chris arrived. Not seen Smit in ages so it was good ton catch up!

First on were 'Don't Look Now' who played a good set although personally I preferred their own songs to the covers that they included. Then followed the Destructors who played loud fast 80's punk who's highlight for me was their Christmas song that made TV's effort positively jolly..

TV unfortunately had quite a heavy cold, I hope I didn't get too close during my advice session, so played a few less songs than normal but still managed a stunning Dangerous Playground, Lion & the Lamb, Generation Y, Expensive Being Poor, Useless, My String Will Snap, New Church, LOrd's Prayer, No Time to be 21 amongst others. Then on came the band to finish off with Gary Gilmore's Eyes, Bored Teenagers and One Chord Wonders.

I really enjoyed the band, who despite no rehearsals and a tendency to drown out Tim's failing voice created something different to all the other band renditions I have heard before. Anyway decide for yourself:

I wonder what he'll play on Wednesday in Peterborough...
Definitely not the nose-flute...

Folkestone Dec 15th 2012

T.V. returned to Kent to play Googies Cafe-Bar in Folkestone, where the support for the night was to be Abjoujaparov, the band formed by Les "Fruitbat" Carter from Carter USM.

The venue is very "compact", with the performance area, being in the basement, VERY compact, accomodating no more than 30, although it did have 2 very comfy armchairs!!!

There was another "special guest" for the evening in the shape of Mrs Taff, who perplexed me yesterday morning by asking if she could come to the gig!! So TV gig number 7 for her.

Abjou were very good, especially as they had not played together for sometime and Les forgot some of the "intro's", but it rather made for a good set of 9 songs.

A quick change and a refreshment "top-up" and TV was on, hoever, with the bar upstairs and the 1 WC downstairs, the attendance looked to be sparse, until the first strains of "Giants" rang out, and slowly the numbers rose and I would estimate that at the peak there were around 25 in the performance area, with about the same number "upstairs in the bar,

With the local curfew of 11pm looming the usual favourites brought the show to an end around 1110pm and a good showing at the Merch stall.

Speaking to a few of the audience afterwards there was a good response and the owner told me that he would be inviting TV back..

I am pleased to say that Mrs Taff enjoyed herself, but she did say this morning that she woke up with "Lion & The Lamb" ringing through her mind...  Job done Tim!!

A good night and here to the next.. (Maidstone, I hear!)!!!!

Set List:

MOTG, 21, Flavour, Clone, CITL, Lion, Useless, Complaints, NIMN, Poor, Imm Rich, GB Mistake, Gen Y, New Church, Lords Prayer, Xmas, GGE, Bored, OCW.

Sorry we missed it but had an invitation closer to home  :-\

Blimey Tim's last gig of the year - another cracker at the 100 Club last night, and great to catch up with Jon and Sophie again.

A nice event at the 100 Club too; some great acts; Ruts DC with Leigh Heggarty of course, Tenpole Tudor, Glen Matlock, Spizz with a 5 piece band and a huge 'minder', Dun2Def and more besides

Good to see Tim has just about shaken that bug. As always he went down a storm kicking off with No Time To Be 21 and blazing through a compact set and squeezing his allotted time to the max!

A great end to the musical year!

Thank you for the last (?) review of the year, Alan!  :)

This thread will not be "sticky" anymore from now on, but I will put "Gigs 2013" at the top instead.
