TV Questions / Re: Was any Adverts concert filmed?
« on: April 01, 2009, 02:32:12 PM »
What about the Adverts on the Old Grey Whistle test. They did a whole show. Is that available in its entirety anywhere?

A brilliant album indeed. Stand out tracks for me have to be Together Alone , I wish I could see Clearly, In the Arms of my enemy, Open up your Heart, Weak Glue, Clone Town, My Trojan Horse.  Oh heck all of them. Congratulations T.V. You have never made a duff record.

It is always sad when someone you used to respect sells out.  :(

I like Jonathan as well. I saw him live about 10 years ago in portsmouth. It was a great show, although it nearly did not happen as he went awol for a while & only came back about 5 minutes before the start. Ha ha.  :)

World Chat / Re: Favourite One Hit Wonders?
« on: March 18, 2009, 01:23:37 PM »
The Cardiacs - Is This the Life. was a surprise hit.

My choice is One Chord Wonders because in my opinion it must rank, alogside the Pistols - Anarchy in the UK, the Damned - New Rose & the Clash - White Riot, as one of the best debut singles by a band ever. From the 1 2 3 intro right through to the explosion at the end it is pure energy & excitement. I can still recall the thrill I felt when I played it for the first time. (in those days you did not always get a chance to hear a new punk band before buying their record & had to rely on word of mouth).
"The Wonders don't care! We don't give a damn!" I assumed this was a chorus that would give way to another verse before returning later on in the song. But no! It just kept on repeating over & over like a defiant statement of intent.
I prefer the single to the lp version.

Thank you for the warm welcome TJ. I think it says a lot about an artists creativity when such great songs can be left on the back-burner for so long.  :)

TV Songs / My Trojan Horse

I have been browsing through TV's set lists, & I noticed that My Trojan Horse was performed live in 1984. Why has such a beautiful song taken so long to be recorded?

Forget all about my last posting, I have been on the phone again to the Ropetackle & it is going ahead. Hope to meet some of you there. This will be the first time I have seen TV live since the Adverts in 1977. Really looking foreward to it. ;D

Hello everyone. What a friendly forum this seems to be. Just thought I would introduce myself. I'm Nick & I have been a TV fan since I bought One chord wonders all those years ago. I have only recently joined the modern world & got a computer, which is why I have not been here before.
My main reson for posting here is that I want to go see TV at Shoreham but the Ropetackle box office know nothing about it. Anyone know if the gig is actually going to happen?
