The Nightingales
« on: April 26, 2009, 12:52:27 AM »
Just got back from watching the Nightingales:
very cool band, a bit like the Velvet Underground, but very strange and 'quirky'.
I had a really 'psychedelic' experience seeing them live (and I'm typing this as I just get home full of beer, he he). They'll be playing the 100 Club tomorrow (or should i say today?), so go check 'em out and their cool support band "Violet Violet".  8)
Every day this bus goes the same old route...

**PREMIERES SATURDAY FEBRUARY 6th.

9PM. SKY ARTS**

Presented and Written by Stewart Lee

King Rocker - Official Trailer [Feb 6th, 9pm, Sky Arts] - YouTube

Outside the UK? The film’s producer says...

It’s normal practice for films and TV to be available at different times in different territories and behind the scenes I’m talking to various people about various options including US broadcast rights.

What the last year has taught us is that every problem creates opportunities.  Something good will happen.  King Rocker is ready to rock in the UK , which is a small victory considering the climate right now, and the rest of the world won’t be far behind.

Very much looking forward to this.

I went to the preview/crowd funding event for the film at eArth in Hackney in 2019. The 'Gales are a good watch live and I'm hoping against hope that their much postponed gig at The Lexington in May goes ahead as I've been waiting a over a year to make use of my ticket for it.
Down like a stick...

Latest update:

Howdy y’all,

Well it is painful but inevitable...

We must apologise – for the third time – for a further postponement of the seemingly doomed but certain to be fantastic ‘Four Against Fate’ UK tour

Obviously, grim & tedious circumstances beyond our control have knocked the dates back yet again

But fear not, for our brilliant booker (Fliss), with dedication & defiance, has rebooked the tour & the ‘king thing will happen

***ALL tickets for postponed 2020/21 shows WILL be valid for the new dates***

Ticket info/links - Live / Nightingales (thenightingales.org.uk)

Hold the ‘phone!

We have two fresh new T-shirts now available

Created by our in house designer (Fliss) & printed in Brum on top quality cotton, these beauties could well be the Season’s ‘must have’

We also have the beautifully packaged double LP ‘No Love Lost (expanded edition)’ back in stock, alongside all of the other most recent ‘Gales gear at our updated Bandcamp ‘one stop shop’

& NOTE - This coming Friday (Feb 5) is a Bandcamp ‘fee free’ day, which means the Nightingales get 100% of all sales, with Bandcamp forgoing their hefty slice &, frankly, as sidelined, unfurloughed, self employed types, we need all the breaks we can get

Buy stuff here - https://uknightingales.bandcamp.com/music

After what has seemed like an age, ‘King Rocker’, the documentary film about Robert Lloyd & the Nightingales is to be premiered

The first ever public screening will be at 9pm this Saturday (Feb 6) on Sky Arts, which is available on terrestrial TV & free to view

It is unfortunate that the premiere is on telly rather than at the cinema but, as is very obvious, things have not gone to plan over the last year or so

But the movie is booked for various theatrical screenings before the year is out & we will be able to announce more details in an update afore too long

Meanwhile, for those mailing list folk that live outside the UK, rest assured the film’s production team are currently in negotiation with assorted broadcasters & distribution companies, etc, to get the film to many territories abroad

COMING UP IN MARCH...

News of an exclusive online streaming event, a new record & (probably) more.

Best wishes & thanks for your support.
