Errol Brown- another victim of cancer. Never liked Hot Chocolate but they did do one of the first anti-racist songs I can remember hearing;

I loved BB's records, but I was very disappointed when I saw him live. He left the music to the band as he turned up after about 15 minutes of them playing without him and then was far more interested in shaking hands, signing autographs and giving away key rings than playing. People that went up to the stage might have liked this, but I wanted the music.

Had I been a paying punter I would have been VERY disappointed, but fortunately I was actually paid to see his "performance" as I was working as a steward at Birmingham's Symphony Hall whilst a student. I actually chucked his manage out of the Hall as he kept walking around and blocking people's views (The same guy who BB's daughter recently claimed was neglecting him). He was a real knob and threatened to have me sacked, but my boss told me "Well done!" since he'd been a pain in the arse to the Hall's management all day and they couldn't tell him what they thought of him.

At the end of the show, one of my lecturers wanted his programme signed for his son, so I took it into the Green Room after the show for BB to sign, which of course he did, just before his manager walked into the room and saw me talking to BB - you should have seen his face!
