200 for a 45 minute tutorial.
Can't blame him for trying to boost his pension but some people must have more money than sense.  ;)

And via skype (not in person), if I understood correctly.
Well, I can't play anyway, so: not for me...  ;D

When I used to go and see The Damned back at the old Glasgow Apollo, if you hung around after the gig, they used to let you back in to meet the band. I did this a few times and found them all as friendly and inspirational as I hoped they would be. I've also bumped into them individually many times at gigs and festivals over the years, and again found them happy to have a chat/reminisce...

They now want 50 for it via Pledge Music!

50!

Fifty bloody quid!

Not that they need the money for the new album...

They are REALLY starting to take the piss now! Why bother to record/tour if you can just sell your used tissues? This is really not on. I advocated something like this so that Jamie could get "We Who Wait" out, but they were already oversubscribed for their target when they started milking the fans like this.

Not good.

Not good at all.

I can't help but agree. Did they suddenly realise that they have no "pension scheme"?  ::)

The "discussion" has reached the Damned message board now too:

Plenty of fans are quite happy to pay for the 'meet and greet' packages.
Those who don't like it don't have to do it.
Personally I don't bother with these things.

I think the people saying it's not very 'punk' have missed the point that The Damned are a professional touring rock band who haven't been 'punk' since about 1979.

I really don't have a problem with anyone selling anything they want to through their usual merchandising stalls at gigs and via their websites. What isn't appropriate is to pretend to the fans that they are funding recording, pressing, packaging and distribution of a new album by buying these items/experiences once the funding target has been more than achieved. That really is just taking the piss.

Bands have to sound check anyway, and fill the time between it and the show. I think charging the fans to entertain them and boost their egos is really not on. Several bands I like have done this, and I haven't/wouldn't bother with it. Again, if anyone does want to pay for the privilege, that's fine by me - providing they aren't pretending it's anything other than a money-making exercise and NOT related to crowd-funding.

Not good.

Really not good.

Plenty of fans are quite happy to pay for the 'meet and greet' packages.

There's this saying in Germany "Jeden Morgen steht ein Dummer auf, man muss ihn nur finden".
(Which can be translated as "every morning a stupid person gets up, you just have to find him".)

Those who don't like it don't have to do it.

That goes without saying, but if the band goes "public" with such things, criticism is to be accepted.
Especially for a band which was often quoted as "being a peoples band", "we don't hide behind walls of security" etc.  ::)

Exclusive single, exclusive T-Shirt and exclusive one-off magazine.
All only available to those few who go.
Not for me but will appeal to all those who still 'collect' everything to do with a band and like to say 'I was there'.
Personally I just want to see the band or hear the records.
